Mandate:
The CIM UMS Ventilation and Hazardous Atmospheres committee mandate is:
- To encourage the sharing of advances in the technical understanding of (a) mine ventilation and (b) the safe operation of mines with potentially hazardous gas and dust atmospheres;
- To facilitate such sharing by advocating for, organizing for and and/or presenting papers, at webinars, seminars and conferences on relevant subjects.
Through its participation with the CIM Underground Mining Society the members of the Ventilation and Hazardous Atmospheres sub-committee will:
- Support ventilation conferences held in Canada;
- Advocate for technical ventilation workshops and short-courses;
- Provide mentorship and networking opportunities for individuals seeking specific ventilation-related technologies;
- Establish a roadmap addressing future challenges/opportunities in underground ventilation;
- Offer updates in academic and technical research & development advancements in the area of underground ventilation and safety in underground hazardous atmospheres; and
- Solicit technical papers and identify suitable reviewers for CIM Journal and other publications.
