Mandate:

The CIM UMS Membership Committee’s mandate is to engage with society members (members) to foster involvement with the CIM UMS and to develop and deliver content that relevant to and provides value to society members.

Communication

The Membership Committee will serve as the communication branch of the society.  This will involve contacting members on behalf of other CIM UMS committees, sharing information about events and material relevant to underground mining, and outreach to garner feedback on the type of content of interest to members.

  • Serve as the connection between other CIM UMS committees and the members.
  • Issue summaries of news, conferences, and training opportunities related to underground mining using:
  • Regular Eblast to members and contacts using the CIM community toolkit.
  • Social media updates on LinkedIN, Facebook and Twitter.

Content development and delivery

The Membership Committee will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of content associated with underground mining that provides value to members.

  • Contact members to help guide the development of future content.
  • Explore methods for delivering relevant content to members that are unable to physically attend events.
  • Identify possible topics/ themes for short courses and mini conferences.
  • Identify possible topics and speakers for webinars.
  • Facilitate networking between members of the society.

Statistics

The Membership Committee will use tracking statistics to provide insights into the attractiveness of society initiatives in growing the society membership and increasing member engagement.

  • Track changes in the number of members.
  • Track participation in society events.
  • Provide reports to the society board.

  • Publish Quarterly Newsletters
  • Post 1 article per month to social media accounts

Annual Objective (2021/22):
Create or take ownership of social media accounts.
Recruit Committee Members to manage social media accounts.
Solicit 2 Webinar topics from UMS membership (non-board members).
